Q. What will my first lesson be like?
A. Well, a whole lot of fun! Wear loose comfortable clothing, such as sweat pants and a baggy tee-shirt. Also you must wear socks for hygiene purposes in the dojo. Sensei will provide an introduction to Ninpo and then the fun starts, the first thing you are likely to do is play lots of games! Why? Because they provide a gentle introduction to the activities you will soon be introduced to.
Q. I am worried about coming along on my own
A. Many people come on their own to classes and there is always someone to train with. Classes are very friendly and Sensei Stuart always makes sure people feel at their ease. By training you will meet like-minded people and will make new friends.
Q. I have not exercised for years, will I be able to keep up?
A. Ninpo is taught in a manner that gradually builds up stamina.
Q. Is there a training programme that I can follow?
A. Yes, Ninpo and Jujutsu all have grading systems that students undertake at their own pace and with Senseis guidance. Beginners start as white belts and move on to become green belts when they pass their 10th and 9th Kyu. Students then continue as Green Belts until they achieve the rank of black belt .
Q. Is it safe?
A. Like any physical activity there will be an element of risk in training. However students safety is paramount, there are strict rules which are adhered to by all students in the dojo. This ensures that when we train we are aware of our fellow students safety. Shin Jin Dojo has an excellent safety record, indeed by training in Ninpo you will learn how to avoid injury.
